How we do…

So it can be a frustrating business looking for clothes if you’re tall. By tall I don’t just mean tall in the sense of being above average height, or for that matter necessarily the kind of tall that has strangers approaching you in the street to ask just how tall you are, but if you’re a man standing at say 6’ 5” or above the chances are you have regular difficulty in finding a pair of jeans that fit.

There are of course many places that cater exclusively for the beanpoles among us and are more than happy to provide the towering masses with a few extra inches on the inside leg for a healthy markup on the price of a highstreet garment. In all honesty though, many of the clothes to be found in these places are only truly suited for retired vicars, or at the very least vicars approaching retirement, with little or no attempt to offer anything that anyone under the age of 40 would pay serious consideration to wearing in public.

The outcome of this is that the experience of shopping with most specialist clothes retailers for tall men leaves you feeling thoroughly ripped off. For example, whenever I have found myself in High & Mighty over the years and have not appeared to be in the throws of hysterical excitement at the blandness of their range when approached by a member of staff, I have gained the distinct impression that in their soul they believe you should be desperate to throw every penny you have and will ever earn, the keys to your house and the marriage rights of your first born child to anyone willing to offer you a 36” inside leg – namely them.

However there are thankfully alternatives and some of them are even available in proper shops you can find on the highstreet. This blog is to help you to find some decent clothes that actually fit.
